The home-style Italian restaurant in mid-city was established in 1957.
Venezia is a great place to take the entire family, or sit alone at the bar and dine while watching sports or visit with other diners. I especially like Wednesday nights at the bar. There are several regulars who have made it a thing for many years. One of those was me when I lived in mid-city. The staff is all familiar faces, loving what they do and calling it home. The food is authentic American Sicilian Italian with a New Orleans twist. Many of the dishes are original to Venezia like the Eggplant Vatican or Catfish Cynthia. They have their own twist on the Almondine which is addictive. The portions are large so order a variety and share.
Here is a tip: the antipasti salad is not on the menu, it is a traditional Italian platter with salami and cheeses and olives. Another tip, just down the street is the best Italian Ice cream and Pastry shop in New Orleans which is where you will want to go for dessert.
To make the cream cheese drizzle: Beat the cream cheese, confectioners’ sugar, vanilla, and salt in a bowl. Beat in enough milk to make a pourable mixture.
